PowerPoint introduces exchange rates and explains how changing money from one currency to another works (using holidays abroad as an example). Students are then shown how appreciating or depreciating exchange rates affect the cost of raw materials for businesses. Quick lesson on the merits of an annual wealth tax used with my Year 12 and 13 Economics students. -Students read the BBC article on a proposed wealth tax -Try to fill in the table with some pros and cons (using their own knowledge) -Then I put the Financial Times video on (20 mins; free on YouTube) and asked students to update their table accordingly -Also resulted in a good discussion in my classes after viewing I found this was a good way to help my students understand a real world issue that isn’t necessarily in the syllabus.
